Anita Memar - Visual Artist
Anita Memar is the professional name of Mahshid Memarzadehesfahan, a Manchester-based Visual Artist working across sculpture, ceramics and mixed media.
Originally from Iran, Anita has developed a multidisciplinary creative practice grounded in a long-standing background in art and design. She later continued her studies at Manchester School of Art, where she completed her postgraduate studies in 2024. Her work has since moved increasingly towards sculpture, ceramics and material-led practice, with a particular interest in form, tactility and the expressive possibilities of physical materials.
Based in Salford, Greater Manchester, Anita currently develops her sculptural and ceramic practice as a Studio Member at 7 Spot Pottery, Manchester. Alongside her studio practice, she has built a growing professional profile through exhibitions, commissioned work, invited artist participation, workshop leadership, publications and critical coverage in the UK and internationally.
Her work has been presented in a range of exhibition contexts in the UK and internationally, alongside appearances in art publications and media platforms. Across her practice, she brings together material experimentation with symbolic and organic forms, exploring how lived experience can be translated into physical form.
Alongside her studio practice, Anita remains engaged with the wider creative community through artist-led initiatives, collaborations and opportunities for exchange with other practitioners.
