Artist Statement
My practice investigates the space between silence and release, using material as a language to explore resilience, transformation and the emotional traces carried through everyday life.
I am interested in the experiences that remain within us, memories, emotions, moments of vulnerability and the things we carry but cannot always articulate. Working primarily with clay, ceramics and mixed media, I explore how these intangible experiences can take physical form.
My sculptural works often bring together figurative, symbolic and organic forms. Recurring motifs, including human figures, fish and fluid structures, emerge through the making process and allow me to explore ideas of belonging, inner experience, vulnerability and renewal.
For me, working with clay is both physical and reflective. Shaping, pressing, layering, breaking and rebuilding become ways of thinking through experience. I allow the material to retain traces of the process, embracing irregularities, tensions and transformations rather than seeking complete control.
I do not aim to offer fixed narratives or singular interpretations. Instead, I create works that occupy a space between the personal and the universal, inviting viewers to pause, reflect and perhaps recognise something of their own experiences within the forms.
My practice continues to explore how material can hold, transform and release what words sometimes cannot.
